Determining the Economic Effects of the Intermediary Liability Regime
To what extent does the intermediary liability regime promote an open internet, while at the same time assuring adequate investment rates in music? Created over a decade ago, our client felt it was time to undertake a factual assessment of the policy environment provided by the existing safe harbour regime.
We undertook a counterfactual impact assessment to understand the role of the intermediary liability regime in promoting consumer needs as well as its potential implications on investment rates in music.
In view of potential copyright reforms at the European level, our findings were presented to European Parliament as well as senior representatives in the European Commission.
